American Light Toast Oak Chips (4 oz)

American light toast oak chips. American oak is more aggressive than French oak, it adds a subtle coconut and dill in addtion to the light toast, and spice that French oak lends to beer or wine.
4oz is sufficient to add oak flavors and aromas to 5 gallon batch of beer.
Contact time from 6 weeks to 6 months depending on desired level of flavors.
There are three ways to sanitize the chips before adding them to your fermentor:
1. Simply boil in water for 10 minutes, then drain and place the chips in your plastic or glass fermentor before transferring.
2. Soak the chips in a spirit, whiskey, vodka, etc. for 2 days to one month and pour everything into your beer or wine.
3. Mix a sanitizing potassium metabisulfite solution
(a small pinch - 1/4tsp will treat 6 gallons)
and soak the chips for 24 hours
